Stumbling with Grace [single]

by Bittersweet Machines

/
1.
I made my way back to the sun To somewhere that is worth the price of dreaming And worth the damage done A shadow slides across my face I’m carrying the weight of all the memories And stumbling with grace And it makes me start to wonder What if I lose my way again? What if I turn and run for cover? Would I find a way to find out who I am? Stumbling with Grace I made my way back to the sun Cause I was out there searching for a long time For somewhere to belong And it makes me start to wonder What if I lose my way again? What if I turn and run for cover? Would I find a way to find out who I am? I just need a satellite Guiding my way home And it makes me start to wonder What if I lose my way again? What if I turn and run for cover? Would I find a way to find out who I am? Would I find a way to find out who I am? Would I find a way? Would I find a way? Would I find a way to find out who I am?

about

"Stumbling with Grace" is a songwriting collaboration with Ross de Baas (of the band Oxilogue). Ross took the lead on building the instrumental framework and I was tasked with developing lyrics, vocal lines, and vocal performance. We were both surprised by the speed with which the song came together and I think that only adds to the purity of the composition. Lyrically the song addresses the feeling that so many of us have; the ever evolving journey of self discovery. The beauty, pain, and even awkwardness of figuring out what makes us who we are. If you get a chance definitely make sure you check out the excellent work of Oxilogue.
